Train journeys you can ride from your desk
Window Safar is a small website for anyone who misses looking out of an Indian train window. Pick a route, the curtains open, and you ride it: real window footage, live weather at every station, chai and food on your table that changes with the time of day, and film songs that change with the region.
Each route has its own curtain fabric, from Warli on the Konkan line to leheriya in Rajasthan, a co-passenger in the seat opposite who talks to you along the way, short stories about each station, and a stamp book that fills up as you travel. You can get down at any platform for chai, as long as you're back before the horn.
Who made it
I'm Prachi. I built Window Safar in October 2026 for my AI class, and it grew from there. Most of the food and platform photos on the site are my own, taken on real journeys.
The routes
Where things come from
- Window footage is played from YouTube in YouTube's own player and belongs to the people who filmed it.
- Songs play through Spotify's player and belong to their labels and artists.
- Weather comes live from Open-Meteo.
- Curtain prints are drawn for the site, inspired by each region's textile tradition.
- Station stories are short summaries. Check details before you travel.
Window Safar is an independent project and isn't connected to Indian Railways or IRCTC.
